The Flintstones remain one of the most beloved cartoons from the 1960s, capturing the imaginations of generations with its charming characters and prehistoric setting. Drawing these iconic figures can be a fun way to connect with that nostalgia. here is my process on drawing Fred Flintstone and how I came up with a creative spin.
the idea
I am a really big cartoon fan as some of you may know. but I also get artist block from time to time and on this particular day my block was super heavy all I could do was sit and look at this blank art board in front of me. my mom called me and we were on the phone cutting up as usual, she asks me what I was doing? my response- " sitting in my art room with a blank piece of art board and no ideas whatsoever. so, while we were on the phone I could hear pops in the background say, " you still have the drawing of marge?" (back story soon!) I was like yeah! she is sitting in my closet right now! and just off that question, a creativity/idea was made! "The Flintstone Series" a Reboot of a classic cartoon but with a unique spin on them.
the process
Now my process may be different front yours and that is perfectly fine!
I am still learning ways and pushing my creativity too different levels that I didn't even know I had the capability to do so. for starters I am a stop and go person. if I'm not sure about my next move on an artboard when it comes to colors I stop! I'm also a perfectionist when it comes down to my own work, everything has to look perfect in my eyes before I'm ready to sign and date. Once I'm done with a sketch in my book and I redraw on the artboard I tend to switch up my original drawings sometimes because I get more crazy ideas I didn't have when I started the sketches.

I knew that right off the back that I wanted the whole series to have a Carolina/button/ stitches effect, I mean why not add somebody else's body part or a lion's foot! Right?! Let the creativity flow!
